Micro Reviews of NASCAR and Bourne

Two blogs in one day, I'm on a roll.

 Anyway, like I mentioned I got NASCAR 09 and The Bourne Conspiracy for my birthday.  After a few hours with each I offer these micro reviews (I'll leave the real reviewing to Sinister XB100).

The Bourne Conspiracy-

I have to admit straight up that I have a weakness for spy games, movies, entertainment.  Even if they are horrible I still love them.  I will also admit I played through the Mission Impossible game probably 30 times on the N64 and I still own it.  That being said, it will come as no surprise that I really enjoy The Bourne Conspiracy.  From a pure gaming standpoint no, it is not near a AAA game.  It does have it's flaws such as locked in fighting (you can't break away from the fight until you beat the opponent down), this becomes somewhat annoying when you are being shot at, but makes for really cool take downs.  The combat is very fun.  It reminds me of Assassin's Creed's combat style, but has a little less variety as far a s basic attacks.  When your power meter fills up, you can do takedowns that are adapted to whatever you are doing so very few take downs are alike.  The shooting is a little flawed but the cover system works just like Gears of War.  Overall I am really enjoying the game.  And for those wondering it follows the movies very closely, there are very few elements from the books.  In fact a few cutscenes had the scene from the movie shot for shot.

NASCAR 09- All I can say is Peter Moore must be doing his job.  If EA Sports releases the rest of the 09 lineup as well polished as NASCAR is, it will be a good year for sports games.  The physics and handling are much better this time around and the graphics have improved from the Xbox-like look of 08 (granted this is based on the demo, the last full NASCAR game I had was 05 I think).  The cool feature this year is you can design your own cars in Photoshop and upload them into the game.  This is also true for driver photos although you can also use the Live Cam.  This is certainly a good start for the EA Sports lineup this year.
