Ghostbusters Sequel Coming in Video Game Form, Original Cast and Writers Heavily Involved
by Chris Faylor Nov 14, 2007 1:28pm CST
The long-fabled third entry in the Ghostbusters franchise will be arriving in the form of a video game for PC, PlayStation 2, PlayStation 3, Xbox 360, and Wii.
Writing duties for the title are being handled by Harold Ramis, Dan Aykroyd, and Bill Murray. All three starred in the first two films, which were written by Ramis and Aykroyd. The trio will also lend their voices to the game, which is currently being developed by an unknown studio. The project was unveiled through Game Informer's teasings of its next issue.

Many consider Slovenia-based developer ZootFly a likely candidate for the game's developer. Earlier this year, the company leaked a number of prototype movies from an unlicensed Ghostbusters game that was in the works for Xbox 360.

However, ZootFly confirmed that it was no longer developing the Ghostbusters game in a recent interview with Gamer.TM, as another company got the license first. That other company is said to be Universal, a tidbit Akroyd accidentally revealed while talking to the Edmonton Sun.

Best news ever? YES! I can't even begin to express how exciting this is! I wonder if it will be the "Hell on Earth" script where they open a portal to hell. With the actual talent behind the movies on this and it being billed as an official sequel it has to be a mega-million project. What do you all think? Online co-op?!

Actually it would be awesome! Cross the streams and the game ends and your save is deleted!

Try to imagine all life as you know it stopping instantaneously and every molecule in your body exploding at the speed of light.

MORE DETAILS!

Got some MORE Ghostbusters news. Sure you can handle it. Vivendi have confirmed to Variety writer Ben Fritz that the games will feature both multiplayer and co-op. Co-op? Be still, my beating heart. Also, up *there*, you'll find a screenshot we managed to get hold of earlier today (click for a bigger version). It's picture tells a thousand words. Most of them being childish squeals. Now if you'll excuse us, we've got to go practice some official, canonical, co-op one-liners. Something about two in the box, and we being fast, or something.

2.) For some reason almost every screen features situations from the first movie..

3.) The game takes place in the late 90's.

4.) Good or bad this game will make more money than God can count.

Good find Silver. From that video we can see that the Xbox 360 is indeed the lead platform for development.
